Our Story

Picture

Where it all began

We are a two person team with annoyingly similar names, Gemma and Jenna. Its ok because funnily enough we have both answered to each others names over the years. We don't find it confusing but I think we are the only ones.
When we were growing up in the same year at school in a small town somehow our paths didn't cross.  We knew a lot of the same people and even lived in the same house at different times!
It wasn't until we both moved to Waverley, South Taranaki in a small rural community that we connected.
Once we got together for a coffee we soon realised how much we had in common. When two people have sheds full of decorations it has to be fate right?!
We got talking about our kids parties and how much we both love the planning and decorating process and from there an idea was born.

We both love styling parties but we had a lot more than that in common. Our passion when it comes to women supporting women is a huge factor in the creation of Holding Space studios. Both of us being Mum's and Wives in what feels like turbulent times we understand the need for us all to look after ourselves, follow our passions and connect with like minded people. Our future plan is to hold creative workshops and events on site- we didn't open at the best time for this to be a reality at the moment, but it is still on the cards.

Our gift shop is full of handcrafted quality products all made locally and by small businesses. We have been blown away by all the talented creative people we have met on our journey to open the shop. It has been so much fun connecting with so may people who are out their doing what they love.

It's even better to be joining them.

Gemma and Jenna

Its all in the name...

Holding Space for someone means being physically, mentally and emotionally present for them. When applied to you it means giving yourself the space to create your life the way you want it to be.
